BIT MORE INFORMATION:

A timeless blend rooted in the heart of North African tradition, Moroccan Mint tea combines Chinese green tea with peppermint leaves and added sugar when its served. This iconic beverage, also known as Atay or Berber Whiskey, has been a symbol of hospitality and social connection across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and beyond for centuries.

Tea first arrived in Morocco during the 18th and 19th centuries, introduced by British merchants through trade routes. As tea became more accessible, locals began blending it with native peppermint, creating a refreshing and aromatic drink that quickly became central to daily life and ceremonial gatherings. The tea was often exchanged for prisoners during diplomatic negotiations, further embedding it into the region’s cultural fabric.

Today, Moroccan Mint tea is traditionally brewed in ornate metal teapots and poured from a height to create a frothy “head,” symbolizing care and respect. It’s served in small glasses, often in three rounds, each representing life, love, and peace.
