BIT MORE INFORMATION:
Keemun Orchid is a distinguished black tea from China’s Anhui province, a region that, until the late 19th century, was known exclusively for green tea.
Around 1875, a civil servant named Yu Quianchen returned from Fujian, inspired by black tea production, and introduced the technique to his home province. The
result was Keemun—a tea that quickly gained popularity for its ability to travel well and its compatibility with Western tastes.
This particular variety, Keemun Orchid, is named for its delicate floral aroma, reminiscent of blooming orchids. It brews into a deep red liquor with a
naturally sweet, nutty character and layered notes of honey, plum, pine, and sesame. Its smooth yet full-bodied profile makes it a versatile tea, equally
enjoyable on its own or with a slice of lemon—or even a splash of milk, which is rare for Chinese teas.
Keemun Orchid is often considered a refined breakfast tea and was once a key ingredient in traditional English Breakfast blends. Its balance of strength
and subtlety makes it a timeless favourite for those who appreciate both elegance and depth in their cup.
Keemun Orchid – Floral, Smoky & Elegantly Nutty
A refined Chinese black tea from Qimen County in Anhui, China, made from rolled leaves that deliver a rich dark amber liquor with signature notes of orchid, honey, plum, pine and sesame. It's smooth, aromatic, and deeply satisfying — no need for milk unless you fancy it.
What Makes It Special
This Keemun earns its name for its soft floral fragrance — often described as reminiscent of wild orchids — coupled with a smoky, malty character and a mellow sweetness. The balance is exceptional: aromatic, well-rounded, and richly textured.
Origin & Craft
Sourced from Qimen County, the birthplace of Keemun tea. This small-leaf varietal is slowly oxidised and carefully processed to preserve its delicate floral aromatics and natural sweetness. Often referred to as Keemun Orchid Supreme or Keemun Mao Feng, this tea is considered among the finest black teas in China.
Tea Lover’s Tip
Best savoured slowly to appreciate the layered aromas. Excellent as a standalone tea or paired with light snacks like biscuits or nuts. If you're after a deeply aromatic yet smooth black tea, this is the one.
